Smaller hospitals pay less and bigger hospitals pay much more. They charge hospital’s based on the number of doctors in UTD’s covered specialty, number of PAs, and Nurse Practitioners as if they all had a personal subscription.In the age of hospitals cutting everything that isn’t nailed down due to losses from ACA reimbursement rates. It will be hard for some to come up with that kind of money for a product, even one as popular as UTD. You’re right, someone is paying, and UpToDate charges are mostly based on size of the institution and number of users.
